Paula Abdul, the iconic singer and choreographer, has announced she is taking a break to prioritize her health, leaving many fans disheartened.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media this Wednesday, Abdul revealed that she has “recently sustained” injuries that have led her to make this difficult decision.

“In an effort to keep going, I’ve received targeted injections that will allow me temporary relief, but the demands of an entire tour is a different story,” Abdul explained. She elaborated that after numerous consultations with her medical team and considering all possible options, it was advised that one of her injuries necessitates a minor procedure followed by a recovery period of 6-8 weeks. Consequently, this means she will not be able to continue with her upcoming Straight Up! To Canada Tour, which also includes dates in Alaska and North Dakota.

Abdul extended her “deepest apologies” to her supporters, expressing that they “mean the world to me” and that the situation “truly breaks my heart.”

“I’ve been looking forward to the energy, love, and connection we always share when we’re together,” her statement added. She assured fans, “I promise I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon, to give you the show you deserve.”

The celebrated performer, who began her music career in 1988 with the release of her debut album “Forever Your Girl,” has a storied background as a former cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers and as a renowned choreographer. In addition to her music, Abdul has also gained fame as a judge on popular reality competition shows such as “American Idol” and the U.S. version of “The X Factor.”
