Kate Winslet Declares True Courage in Hollywood Isn’t About Bold Looks – It’s About Real Impact!

Kate Winslet Calls for Realistic Recognition of Courage in Entertainment

In a recent interview with Time magazine, Kate Winslet shared her insights on the notion of courage, especially as it pertains to women in the entertainment industry. The Oscar-winning actress is currently promoting her latest film, "Lee," which chronicles the life of model-turned-renowned war photographer Lee Miller.

Winslet expressed her belief that the term “brave” should not be casually applied to women in the spotlight who embrace their natural appearance or opt out of wearing makeup in public. “That’s not f**k brave,” she stated. “I’m not an ex-postmaster fighting for justice, I’m not in the Ukraine. I’m doing a job that matters to me.”

The actress collaborated with director Ellen Kuras for "Lee," marking a reunion since their first project together, the 2004 film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” Kuras praised Winslet, saying, “Kate is very bold and is someone who, like Lee Miller, looks at the plight of women and cares about what happens. Kate is looking behind the scenes, much like Lee Miller looked behind the scenes.”

While Winslet noted that her career has primarily involved working with male filmmakers, she asserted that this dynamic has not impacted her performances. “I’ve always played women who, hopefully, are real women,” Winslet remarked.

"Lee" is set to debut in US theaters on September 27, giving audiences an opportunity to witness Winslet’s portrayal of a woman who broke boundaries in her time.
