Liverpool’s Pursuit of Zubimendi Faces Arsenal Challenge as Everton Faces Player Exodus

    ### Liverpool Faces Competition for Zubimendi

In recent sports news, The Mirror reports that Liverpool Football Club is contemplating a renewed effort to secure the services of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. After an unsuccessful attempt during the previous summer transfer window, the Reds haven’t completely abandoned hope of bringing the 25-year-old Spaniard to Anfield. However, they will likely have to contend with competition from fellow Premier League side Arsenal, which has also positioned itself as a potential destination for Zubimendi.

According to reports circulating in the media, Liverpool was reportedly on the brink of signing Zubimendi last summer. The club was willing to trigger the midfielder’s release clause, estimated at €60 million (around £50.1 million), as stipulated in his contract with Sociedad. Unfortunately for Liverpool fans, the deal didn’t materialize after Zubimendi opted against the move and chose to continue his tenure at the Spanish club. Despite this setback, the prospect of reigniting their interest in Zubimendi remains on Liverpool’s agenda, should the right circumstances arise.

Interestingly, Liverpool’s hopes of acquiring Zubimendi may be dashed by the Gunners’ increasing interest. Recent reports from Spain suggest that Arsenal has made significant advances toward arriving at a deal for the talented midfielder—one who reportedly stands on the brink of accepting an offer from the Emirates Stadium well ahead of the next footballing season.

    ### Everton Faces Potential Exodus

In another footballing narrative, the future looks uncertain for multiple players at Everton, particularly under the aegis of the club’s new owners, the Friedkin Group. With a staggering 13 players set to be out of contract by next summer, the organization faces critical decisions that will impact its roster going forward. The Athletic outlines that standout striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has yet to exhibit any willingness to negotiate fresh terms for a new deal, igniting fears that his future may lie elsewhere.

Among the players facing uncertain futures, Everton has four loan signings: Jack Harrison, Orel Mangala, Jesper Lindstrom, and Armando Broja. By the end of this campaign, all 13 players—including those loaned—is set to become free agents. Notably, of the four loanees, Lindstrom and Broja are the only ones with purchase options. Meanwhile, Everton holds the right to extend the contracts of second-choice goalkeeper Joao Virginia and midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure for an additional year.

Another significant figure on the team, Mason Holgate, currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion, is expected to part ways once his deal concludes in late June. Veteran players like Asmir Begovic (37), Seamus Coleman (36), and Ashley Young (39) are nearing the end of their careers, although Young has expressed a desire to continue competing in professional football. Additionally, the fate of defender Michael Keane remains questionable as he is one of the club’s top earners and may not receive a comparable contract renewal.

The management must also make pivotal choices concerning the future of Idrissa Gueye, who will be 36 when the next season commences but continues to be an indispensable element in Everton’s midfield. Meanwhile, the status of Calvert-Lewin remains in limbo, given he was previously offered a contract extension last summer but has not shown a desire to sign.

    ### Wolves Demand Hefty Fee for Cunha

Concerning Wolverhampton Wanderers, the team is reportedly keen on tying Brazilian star Matheus Cunha to a lucrative new contract. The club seeks to safeguard his value amid increasing interest from other teams. The Telegraph reports that Wolves have resolved to reject any offers for Cunha that do not exceed £53 million—an amount that reflects the player’s importance to the team.

Cunha has quickly ascended to become one of the most valuable players at the club, particularly during challenging times. He has emerged as part of a burgeoning generation of Samba stars at Molineux, giving fans hope for a fruitful future. Having transferred from Atletico Madrid—an announcement made on Christmas Day 2022—Cunha has proven to be a remarkable asset for Wolves.

As negotiations regarding improved terms for Cunha begin, the club remains steadfast in its commitment to retain him, especially as discussions about potential transfers loom. Wolves realize that any acceptable bid will have to significantly surpass the record sale of £53 million associated with the transfer of Matheus Nunes to Manchester City last year. As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will undoubtedly be on Cunha, as heavyweight clubs are expected to intensify their pursuit.

In summary, the upcoming transfer window promises to be an exciting period for football fans as clubs like Liverpool, Everton, and Wolves navigate player negotiations that could change the landscape of their respective squads.
