As a devoted entertainment reporter, I must confess that the phenomenon of “Game of Thrones” and its prequel “House of the Dragon” has never resonated with me. Despite my love for pop culture, historical fiction, and fantasy series like “Lord of the Rings” and “Shadow and Bone,” I just couldn’t seem to connect with George R.R. Martin’s epic saga of power struggles in Westeros and Essos.
Even after attempting to read the books and watch the series, I found the dark and brutal world of “Game of Thrones” to be too much for me. The characters, with their questionable morals and ruthless pursuits, failed to capture my interest.
