At this year’s Tony Awards, Angelina Jolie and her daughter Vivienne were in attendance in support of the musical “The Outsiders,” based on the S.E. Hinton novel. Jolie served as a producer while her 15-year-old daughter was a producer’s assistant.
During the event, the show’s director, Danya Taymor, won the Tony Award for best director, which seemed to have an emotional impact on Vivienne. Taymor expressed gratitude to Jolie in her acceptance speech, recognizing her as part of a group of “great women who have lifted me up.”
Taymor also had some encouraging words for young artists, stating, “Don’t be afraid to trust your gut. Artistic risk yields rewards.” “The Outsiders” went on to win the award for best musical as well.
Jolie and Vivienne have been actively involved in supporting the project, attending the opening night performance on Broadway in April. Vivienne made headlines for dropping “Pitt” from her last name as listed in the musical’s Playbill.
As for Jolie’s relationship with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, they share six children together, including Vivienne. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, citing irreconcilable differences, and they are currently involved in ongoing legal proceedings over a French winery and estate they once owned together.
