At a recent conservative gathering, Steve Bannon, a long-time ally of Donald Trump, made strong statements about holding accountable those who have investigated the former president and his political allies. Speaking at Turning Point Action’s “The People’s Convention” in Detroit, Bannon declared that Inauguration Day in 2025 will be “accountability day.” He emphasized that Trump’s allies will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted, stating, “You are going to be investigated, prosecuted and incarcerated. This has to do with justice.”
Bannon’s speech referenced Trump’s recent conviction in New York and the former president’s previous comments about seeking retribution. Trump has continued to make bold statements about going after his political opponents and facing minimal consequences. Some of Trump’s allies, such as Kellyanne Conway, have downplayed his remarks, while others, like Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, have demanded answers regarding Trump’s prosecution.
Bannon’s address comes shortly before he is scheduled to report to prison for contempt of Congress charges related to his failure to cooperate with the investigation into the January 6 Capitol attack. Despite his current legal troubles, Bannon continues to maintain a following among loyal Trump supporters and remains outspoken in his support for the former president.
During his speech, Bannon vowed to overhaul the Justice Department and dismantle the FBI, rallying the crowd to stand against what he perceives as injustices. He warned that accountability is coming and urged the audience to be prepared for a revolution. Bannon’s fiery rhetoric sets the stage for heightened tensions and uncertainty leading up to Trump’s sentencing in the New York case on July 11.
