In a recent incident at a theater in London, actor Ian McKellen fell during a performance of the play “Player Kings.” The producers of the show, a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Henry IV” by writer and director Robert Icke, have reported that McKellen is on the road to recovery.
The producers expressed their gratitude for the well wishes from both the audience and the public following the incident on Monday night. A statement from the producers indicated that McKellen underwent a scan and received assurance from the NHS team that he will make a speedy and full recovery. The decision was made to cancel the performance on Tuesday, June 18 to allow McKellen to rest.
Additionally, the producers extended thanks to two doctors who were present in the audience for their support during the incident. McKellen, who is currently in the middle of a 12-week run of the show at the Noël Coward Theatre, stars alongside Richard Coyle and Toheeb Jimoh, known for his role in “Ted Lasso.”
