President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are set to engage in a historic debate on Thursday on CNN. This marks the first time a sitting president and a former president will be facing off in a debate. Additionally, this will be the first debate featuring either Biden or Trump since 2020, with Biden not facing a serious challenge for the Democratic nomination and Trump skipping the GOP debates during primary season.
The last time Biden and Trump shared a debate stage was in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 22, 2020. Following a chaotic first debate that devolved into a shouting match, the Commission on Presidential Debates has made a significant change for this upcoming debate. The candidates will have their microphones cut off while their opponent responds to the first question of each of the debate’s six segments.
