Elon Musk’s X Charged with Breaching Digital Services Act in Europe, Accused of Misleading Users

European regulators have officially charged Elon Musk’s company, X, with violating the Digital Services Act. The European Commission, led by Margrethe Vestager, has accused X of misleading users and failing to comply with key transparency areas outlined in the DSA. This groundbreaking announcement marks the first time preliminary findings have been issued under the DSA.

“In our view, X does not comply with the DSA in key transparency areas, by using dark patterns and thus misleading users, by failing to provide an adequate ad repository, and by blocking access to data for researchers,” stated Margrethe Vestager in a statement released on Friday.

This is a developing story and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
