Popular comedian Andy Samberg recently opened up about his departure from “Saturday Night Live” on Kevin Hart’s show “Hart to Heart.” Samberg revealed that after 12 years on the show, he reached a breaking point in 2012.
“I couldn’t endure it anymore,” Samberg explained. “Physically, it was taking a heavy toll on me. I hadn’t slept in seven years, working tirelessly on sketches and digital shorts.”
Samberg, along with his Lonely Island partners Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, gained fame for their hilarious sketches on “SNL.” However, Samberg noted that things changed after their departure, leaving him solely responsible for creating new content.
Despite the challenges, Samberg found immediate creative satisfaction in working on the late-night series. “The craziest thing about working there is once you get going, if you’re just in the shower and have an idea, that can be on television in three days,” he said.
Ultimately, Samberg decided to leave “SNL” and ventured into other successful projects, such as the hit series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
