She noted, “I imagine the prices of tattoos are going to go up to accommodate this,” recognizing the inevitability of cost adjustments due to the changes.

Under the new regulations, about 4,000 individual tattoo practitioners across Wales will be obliged to pay a fee of £203 for their licenses. In addition, over 2,000 tattoo parlors must obtain separate certifications, costing £385. Kim, who operates Mourning Star Tattoo parlor in Newport, mentioned, “As the owner of a tattoo studio, not only do I have to insure myself and do the extra course, but I then have to license myself and the studio.” This added financial burden will likely lead to higher costs that will be passed down to customers seeking tattoo services.
