Britney Spears’ Attorney Steps Down After Success in Conservatorship Case

Breaking news! Mathew Rosengart, the attorney who represented Britney Spears and helped her secure her release from a court-ordered conservatorship, is no longer working with the pop star. A source with direct knowledge of the matter confirmed Rosengart’s departure, stating that all legal matters regarding Spears’ conservatorship have been resolved, granting her independence and freedom from the probate system.

Two months ago, under Rosengart’s representation, Spears came to a settlement with her estranged father, ending a dispute over legal fees that had persisted long after the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021. With all legal issues now resolved, Rosengart, a partner at Greenberg Traurig in Los Angeles, is moving on to focus on his other clients, according to the source.

In a statement to CNN back when the settlement was reached, Rosengart said, “It has been our honor and privilege to represent, protect, and defend Britney Spears.” He praised the singer as an “icon and a brilliant and brave artist of historic and epic proportion.”

Rosengart, a former federal prosecutor, was hired by Spears in the summer of 2021 to help end her conservatorship, which had been in place since 2008. He played a crucial role in representing Spears and advocating for her freedom. Spears often credited him with protecting her rights and liberties.

Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, served as her conservator for most of the 13-year duration of the arrangement, overseeing her finances and medical decisions. In explosive court testimony in June 2021, Spears described the conservatorship as “abusive” and pleaded with the judge to end it.

Since her conservatorship was terminated, Spears has published a memoir, released new music, and gotten married and divorced. Throughout the legal battle, allegations of financial misuse and abuse were made against her father, which he has denied.

Despite the legal battles and public scrutiny, Spears expressed her desire to put the past behind her and move forward with her life. With Rosengart no longer representing her, Spears can now fully embrace her newfound freedom and independence.
