The game was the most-watched WNBA game in 23 years, with an average of 2.25 million viewers and a peak of nearly 3 million, according to CBS.
The excitement surrounding this weekend’s game has driven ticket prices to be 116% higher than tickets for Chicago Bulls home games last season, which averaged $117. Caitlin Clark, known for boosting ratings, recently helped draw nearly 19 million viewers to the NCAA women’s basketball tournament title game, setting a new record for the most-watched women’s college basketball game.
Clark, Reese, and other high-profile players have contributed to the WNBA’s highest-attended opening month in 26 years. The league has also announced that the start of the season games was the most-watched ever across all six networks that broadcast them. Additionally, viewership among people of color has increased by 60% year over year, with significant growth seen among Hispanic and Black audiences.
