In a recent development, Christina Bobb, an indicted RNC official and former One America News host, is avoiding a deposition in a defamation lawsuit related to the 2020 election, according to Dominion Voting Systems, the company she is battling in court.
Bobb’s legal team had previously argued that the defamation lawsuit and the deposition should be put on hold due to her recent indictment in Arizona on charges related to the Trump campaign’s fake electors scheme. Despite denying any wrongdoing in both cases, Bobb’s attorneys are facing opposition from Dominion, who are urging the court to move forward with the case.
According to lawyers for Dominion, they are willing to tailor their document requests and deposition questions to avoid any overlap with the specific allegations in Arizona. However, Bobb’s criminal attorney in the Arizona case, Thomas Jacobs, expressed concerns that a deposition could harm Bobb’s Fifth Amendment rights, extend criminal discovery beyond legal limits, and potentially prejudice her criminal case.
In the ongoing defamation case, Dominion sued Bobb and OAN, along with other Trump allies and right-wing outlets that spread misinformation about the election. Dominion’s legal team has claimed that Bobb has not provided any documents in the case and has ignored attempts to schedule her deposition in March and May.
After the 2020 election, Bobb used her platform at OAN to promote unfounded conspiracy theories about election rigging, including by Dominion software. She also collaborated with Trump’s lawyers and allies to undermine the election results in key battleground states.
Following a leadership change at the RNC earlier this year, Bobb and other Trump loyalists took on top positions, with Bobb leading efforts on “election integrity,” including filing new lawsuits to tighten mail-in ballot rules and limit ballot drop box access.
