In a recent conversation on the “Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi” podcast, actress Emma Roberts opened up about her thoughts on nepotism in the entertainment industry. The daughter of actor Eric Roberts and niece of Oscar-winner Julia Roberts addressed the ongoing debate surrounding “nepo babies.”
Roberts emphasized that while some may think being from a family in the industry provides an advantage, it also comes with added pressure to prove oneself. She noted, “Young girls, I feel like, get it harder with the nepo baby thing. I don’t really see people calling out you know, sons of famous actors. Not that they should be called that. I don’t think anyone should be called out wanting to follow their dreams.”
The actress also humorously pointed out the double standard, asking why actors like George Clooney aren’t labeled as “nepo babies” despite having familial ties to Hollywood icons.
Despite her own successful career with over 60 film and television credits, including roles in “We’re the Millers” and “American Horror Story,” Roberts acknowledged the challenges and rejections she faced along the way. She emphasized the importance of discussing the not-so-seamless aspects of a career in order to provide a more accurate understanding of the journey.
