In a recent video announcement, Joe Biden, the 46th president of the United States, confirmed that he is seeking reelection. He emphasized the ongoing battle for the soul of America, referencing recent events such as the January 6, 2021 insurrection and abortion rights protests near the US Supreme Court.
“The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom. More rights or fewer,” Biden stated in the video. “I know what I want the answer to be and I think you do, too. This is not a time to be complacent. That’s why I’m running for reelection.”
Biden, who defeated Donald Trump in the 2020 election, made history as the oldest commander in chief in US history at the age of 78. Prior to his presidency, he served as a US Senator from Delaware for over 35 years, resigning in 2009 to become vice president under Barack Obama. Despite previous unsuccessful presidential campaigns in 1988 and 2008, Biden successfully won the election in 2020.
