In a recent interview released on Tuesday, Kevin Spacey admitted to being “too handsy” and acknowledging his past behavior of “pushing the boundaries.” The two-time Oscar winner made these remarks during a 90-minute interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored on YouTube.
Spacey, 64, was found not guilty of seven counts of sexual assault and two counts of other serious sexual offenses in a trial in London last year. The allegations dated back to a period between 2004 and 2013 when Spacey served as artistic director at the Old Vic theater in London.
In a separate New York trial in 2022, Spacey was found not liable for battery after actor Anthony Rapp accused him of inappropriate behavior in 1986.
The actor also faced criminal charges of indecent assault and battery in a 2016 incident but the case was dropped in 2019 after the accuser pleaded the fifth on the witness stand.
During the interview, Spacey discussed his past behavior, stating, “I’m absolutely 150% prepared to take accountability for those things and mistakes that I made… bad, bad, bad behavior sometimes.” When asked about the allegations, Spacey described his actions as “pushing the boundaries…being too handsy, touching someone sexually…in a way that I didn’t know at the time they didn’t want.”
Despite denying that his actions were criminal, Spacey acknowledged that younger actors may have felt unable to speak up and vowed to never behave the same way again.
In a poignant moment, Spacey appeared tearful when discussing his financial struggles, revealing that his house in Baltimore was being foreclosed and sold at auction due to outstanding bills.
Kevin Spacey, known for his roles in “The Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty,” returned to acting in recent years after leaving the Netflix series “House of Cards” following misconduct allegations. He emphasized that his goal now is to prove himself as a man of good character.
