In a recent speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Mindy Kaling offered support to Ben Affleck following his split with Jennifer Lopez. Kaling, a proud native of Massachusetts, took the opportunity to express her love for her home state and its delegation.
During her address, Kaling mentioned Affleck, along with other Massachusetts icons such as Jayson Tatum, the Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Celtics. She told Affleck to “hang in there,” presumably in response to news of Lopez filing for divorce earlier in the week.
Affleck and Lopez had been married for two years, with Lopez filing for divorce on the anniversary of their wedding ceremony in Riceboro, Georgia. The couple first eloped in Las Vegas before their official ceremony.
Kaling’s mention of Affleck was reminiscent of their previous engagement more than 20 years ago, which was ultimately called off due to excessive media attention. The couple first met on the set of the film “Gigli.”
In addition to her words of support for Affleck, Kaling also praised Dunkin’ Donuts as the best coffee in the world, a nod to the Massachusetts-based chain and Affleck’s famous commercials for the brand.
