Mom’s genius back-to-school outfit hack saves morning chaos

Katelyn Knibbe, a 27-year-old stay-at-home mom from outside San Antonio, Texas, has come up with a simple back-to-school hack that she says has saved loads of time each morning. Knibbe, who is a mother of three, knows all too well how chaotic mornings can be when trying to get her kids up and off to school. To help ease the potential stress of the hustle and bustle of the new school year, Knibbe shared a unique hack on TikTok that has received praise from parents all over.

In a DIY video, Knibbe demonstrated how she organized her daughter Corra’s outfits for the week, ensuring there was no last-minute decision-making each morning. She explained, “I am a big plan-ahead kind of person, [and] one of the biggest stressors in the morning when I was growing up was picking out an outfit for the day.” Knibbe shared that she would often try on multiple outfits before settling on one, leading to a messy room and a rushed morning routine.

To prevent this from happening to her daughter, who recently started kindergarten, Knibbe created a custom organization system for her outfits. “With this system, everything she needs for the day is in the assigned bin,” she explained. “All of her clothes, accessories, shoes, etc. go in there.” By eliminating this decision-making process in the mornings, Knibbe noted that school mornings have been running more smoothly for her family.

The DIY hack is not only efficient but also affordable, costing around $10 and only taking about 20 minutes to set up. Knibbe used plastic storage containers from Walmart and printed labels from Pinterest with the days of the week to create the system. She mentioned, “I let my daughter help pick out her clothes for the week, so that might have added a few minutes, but it was pretty quick.”

Knibbe plans to continue this school morning routine throughout the year and for as long as her daughter finds it helpful. She emphasized the simplicity of the hack, saying, “I have three kids and a husband who runs his own business, so we don’t have the time or energy to do complicated things.” Knibbe believes that this system is easy to implement and can make mornings smoother, especially for children who struggle with decision-making.

Other parents have successfully integrated this hack into their morning routines as well. Last year, Georgia mom LaWayne Dacosta shared with Fox News Digital how pre-planning her daughter’s outfits helped foster conversations and bonding time between them. The positive feedback on Knibbe’s TikTok video further solidifies the effectiveness of this organization system.

TikTok users have praised Knibbe’s idea, with one calling it a “game changer” and another expressing interest in trying it for their own children. This back-to-school hack has resonated with many parents looking for ways to streamline their morning routines and reduce stress. Ultimately, Knibbe’s simple yet effective approach to organizing children’s outfits for the week has proven to be a valuable resource for families everywhere.
