Puerto Rican reggaeton star Don Omar has disclosed that he is undergoing treatment for cancer. The singer shared a photo on Instagram showing him wearing a hospital bracelet with “Orlando Health” written on it. In his caption, he expressed optimism, stating, “Today I do, but tomorrow I won’t have cancer. See you soon.”
The 46-year-old, known by his real name William Omar Landrón Rivera, did not provide further details about his cancer diagnosis. CNN has reached out to the artist’s representatives for comment. Despite his health battle, Don Omar is still scheduled to perform on August 7 in Oakland, California, as part of his “Back to Reggaeton” tour in the US.
Don Omar has been a prominent figure in the reggaeton scene since the early 2000s, having released eight studio albums and winning two Latin Grammy awards. He has also made appearances in various films in the “Fast and Furious” franchise. The singer had a longstanding feud with fellow reggaeton star Daddy Yankee, which they announced they had resolved in December last year.
“Thank you for your words and for listening to the ones that came from my heart too,” wrote Don Omar on Instagram during their reconciliation.
