Nashville Police Credit Jon Bon Jovi for Saving Woman on Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge
Nashville, TN – In a remarkable turn of events on Tuesday night, rock legend Jon Bon Jovi was instrumental in helping a woman who was in distress on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. The Nashville Metro Police Department lauded Bon Jovi’s quick thinking and compassion in a statement on their X page on Wednesday.
According to the police, Bon Jovi "helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety." Nashville Police Chief John Drake emphasized the importance of community support in such situations, stating, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”
The unidentified woman was subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the Nashville Metro Police Department. Video footage released by the police depicts the moment of intervention, showing Bon Jovi walking across the bridge with a camera crew when he spotted the woman clinging to the ledge, looking out over the river.
In the video, Bon Jovi, alongside an unidentified associate, can be seen engaging with the woman, ultimately guiding her back over the ledge to safety. Moments later, the footage shows him embracing the woman in a display of support and comfort.
CNN made efforts to reach out to Bon Jovi’s representative for additional comments regarding the incident. A source familiar with the situation reported that Bon Jovi was in the area filming a music video at the time of the incident.
Notably, Bon Jovi’s ability to assist during this crisis is underscored by the experience and training he has obtained through his JBJ Soul Foundation, which he established in 2006. The foundation aims "to break the cycle of hunger, poverty and homelessness" by implementing various programs and supporting community-based organizations, as outlined on its website.
