William Saliba is gearing up for a tough challenge as France prepares to face Belgium in the Euro 2024 round-of-16 clash. The 23-year-old defender is confident in his team’s abilities and insists that they are not afraid of anyone, including the formidable Belgian side led by Romelu Lukaku.

Saliba expressed his readiness to face Lukaku in a press conference, acknowledging the striker’s strength and skill. Despite the daunting task of defending against Lukaku, Saliba emphasized the importance of concentration and strategic play in order to contain the prolific forward. He acknowledged that facing top strikers like Lukaku is a test that he welcomes as a defender, showcasing his determination to rise to the challenge.

While Lukaku has struggled to find the back of the net in the tournament thus far, Belgium’s overall performance has been lackluster, prompting criticism from fans. However, Saliba remains wary of underestimating their opponents, recognizing the quality and talent within the Belgian squad. He emphasized that the knockout stage of the competition brings a new level of intensity and competition, urging his team to remain focused and not underestimate their opponents.

The upcoming match between Belgium and France is expected to be a highly competitive encounter, with both teams seeking to advance to the quarter-finals. Despite Belgium’s recent struggles, Saliba is well aware of the threat they pose and the challenge they will present to France. He stressed that France is prepared to face any opponent without fear, displaying confidence in their abilities to overcome the obstacles that lie ahead.

The clash between Belgium and France is scheduled to take place at the Dusseldorf Arena on Monday, July 1. The winner of this match will move on to face either Portugal or Slovenia in the quarter-finals, setting the stage for an exciting continuation of the tournament.
