Tom Pidcock Set to Make Exciting Return at UCI Cross-country World Cup in Andorra!

Tom Pidcock, a prominent cyclist from the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, has confirmed his attendance at the upcoming UCI Cross-country World Cup, taking place in Pal Arinsal, Andorra, next weekend. This marks an important return to mountain biking for the 25-year-old Brit, who last competed in such a race in 2024 during the UCI MTB World Championships at the same location, thus establishing a full circle moment as he returns to a familiar venue.

Pidcock’s most recent experience in a UCI World Cup was in June of last year at Crans-Montana, Switzerland, where he successfully completed both the Cross-country Olympic (XCO) and Cross-country Short Track (XCC) races. It is worth noting that the athlete has notable accomplishments, including clinching two gold medals in the cross-country mountain bike event at the Olympics – first at the Tokyo Games in 2020 and again in Paris 2024. His trajectory leading up to these prestigious events involved participating in two UCI World Cups the previous season, where he achieved significant victories in both the XCC and XCO categories, culminating in a gratifying performance in Switzerland.

This year, 2025 has presented a shift in priorities for Pidcock. He made headlines by switching teams during the off-season, leaving the well-known Ineos Grenadiers team to join Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team. This transition could come with its own challenges and adjustments, especially considering the distinctive attributes and strategies specific to the new team. Additionally, his road racing this year has been varied with ups and downs. Early in the season, Pidcock showcased his talent by securing both the general classification and points classification at the AlUla Tour in Saudi Arabia. However, his performances in the Spring Classics were less fruitful, resulting in a winless campaign and ultimately finishing within the top-20 ranks at the Giro d’Italia.

Participating in the World Cup in Pal Arinsal could very well be the only opportunity for the Olympic champion to compete off-road this year. He has publicly shared his forthcoming schedule, which includes La Vuelta, thereby precluding him from racing in this year’s UCI MTB World Championships in Valais, Switzerland. Furthermore, his agenda involves participation in the UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda and the UCI Gravel World Championships in Maastricht, Netherlands.

Despite a fluctuating season, Pidcock remains a favorite among spectators and fellow competitors, reflecting his reliable prowess in cycling. Even with the challenge of starting further back on the grid due to his current UCI ranking, which disqualifies him from contesting in the XCC event on Friday, he is undaunted by this predicament. His experience and skills will play a significant role as he adapts to the dynamics on race day, showcasing his resilience under pressure.

The Pal Arinsal event is not just a mere competition but holds sentimental value, as it serves as a key milestone in Pidcock’s cycling journey. Fans and enthusiasts alike are eagerly anticipating his performance, knowing that regardless of the trials faced throughout the season, Pidcock possesses the spiritual fortitude and sporting acumen necessary to excel. Cycling enthusiasts can catch all of the top cycling events including the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España, live and on-demand via TNT Sports and discovery+. As the cycling community keenly awaits the exciting action that lies ahead, Pidcock’s endeavor in Andorra remains a focal point, reflecting the intersection of dedication, skill, and the spirit of sport.
