Trump’s False Claims on Abortion Policy Exposed: Fact-checking the Wildly Inaccurate Statements

In recent news, former President Donald Trump has been attempting to frame Democrats as the “true radicals” on abortion policy. However, in his efforts to do so, he has made inaccurate claims. During a Fox News interview, Trump falsely stated, “Hard to believe, they have some states passing legislation where you can execute the baby after birth. It’s crazy.”

Fact-checking reveals that Trump’s claim is unfounded. No state has passed or is passing a law that permits the execution of a baby after birth, as killing a person after birth is illegal in every state. Legal scholars have debunked Trump’s claim, with Mary Ziegler from the University of California, Davis School of Law stating, “Every state explicitly criminalizes infanticide.”

Despite being asked by CNN to specify which states he was referring to, the Trump campaign did not provide a response. Similar false claims have circulated about California, but these were based on criticism of vague language in a bill that was later revised before being signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom.

Additionally, Trump has made repeated false claims during his current presidential campaign, including the assertion that all legal scholars supported overturning the Roe v. Wade decision. However, many legal scholars actually wanted Roe preserved, with Maya Manian from American University stating, “Donald Trump’s claim is flatly incorrect.”

It is important to note that Trump’s claim about legal scholars wanting Roe overturned is far from the truth, with experts in the field refuting his statements. Stay tuned for more updates on this ongoing controversy.
