In a recent announcement, Vitamix has expanded its recall of certain blending containers and blade bases that have caused deep cuts to consumers. This recall affects about 569,000 units of the high-powered blenders, which were previously recalled in 2018 due to similar issues.
According to reports, the containers can separate from the blade base, exposing the sharp blades and leading to lacerations. So far, 27 people have reported injuries, including those from the previous recall in 2018.
Vitamix is not offering refunds or replacements for the affected parts. Customers are urged to stop using the recalled items immediately and contact the company for a repair kit, which includes a protective shroud for the blade base.
Affected customers are also advised to stop using parts that were repaired in the 2018 recall. The recall extends to all Ascent and Venturist Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers, as well as blade bases. Faulty items may have been sold separately as well.
The recall affects expensive blenders that can retail for up to $990. These products were sold at various retailers and online stores from April 2017 through May 2024. Customers who purchased these blenders are urged to check if their products are included in the recall and take appropriate action.
